Sevilla favourites for Navas?

Jesus Navas has yet to sign a new contract offered to him by Manchester City and reports in Spain suggest Sevilla are favourites for his signature.

According to Cadena Cope, the Andalucians – who Navas left to sign for City in 2013 – have offered the 31-year-old a three-year contract with the option for an extra year, while the report insists he will leave England this summer.

Estadio Deportivo had previously reported on Sevilla’s interest but also claimed Roma, now with former Los Rojiblancos sporting director Monchi, were serious contenders for the winger’s signature.

"No negotiations have started, but there have been contacts," Sevilla president Jose Castro confirmed to the club’s official website in April.

The Sevilla youth product spent a decade in the first-team squad at Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan, making 388 appearances, and Oscar Arias – the new sporting director at the currentEuropa League holders – has refused to rule out a move.

Arias explained on Sevilla’s website: "He is a first-class player who would be a very interesting option as he is a Sevillista, he is from Seville and he is an elite player. We shall see what happens."
