‘Barca in full swing, Madrid…’

Luis Enrique feels Barcelona “are in full swing” after their 4-1 win at Las Palmas on Sunday and warns Real Madrid “we’ve lost in Vigo and Malaga”.

Barca lost Javier Mascherano in the warmup, forcing B defender Marlon into a sudden La Liga debut, but that did not stop the Catalans from registering a big win at Gran Canaria.

“Mascherano’s problem? It wasn’t usual for something like that to happen before the game,” the Coach said after it.

“Mascherano felt a twinge, we didn’t want to risk and that’s why we have squads.

“Marlon’s performance? He played a very good level. He had experience of playing at a high level before coming to Barça and he was very good.

“I was expecting a match like the one I saw. At Las Palmas, if you don’t put pressure on them, you’ll give them chances, but we were smart. I liked the team.

“Faith in Celta? I’m confident that Barca will beat Eibar, which is the key to us having a chance of winning the title.

“Still, we’ve lost in Vigo and Malaga and several times in Vigo…

“Tiredness ahead of two ‘finals’? Not in our case. I saw the team to be perfect. We’re in full swing, I’d say.

“We have one game left and our objective is to pick up points. If we’ve lost then so can any other team.

“Could Digne being sent off have changed the game? Yes… but it didn’t happen.

“Andre Gomes an example of versatility? He’s the example of necessity and prepared to succeed.

“When there are players with his ability, you can go to any battle with them.”
