Mou prioritises Europa League

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed he will rest players in league matches in order to win the Europa League.

The Portuguese boss is keen for United to join Ajax, Bayern Munich and Juventus as the only clubs to have won all three major UEFA trophies, as well as the Club World Cup or the Intercontinental Cup.

"I don't think too much about the achievement," Mourinho told his pre-match press conference ahead of the tie with Celta Vigo, who have rested players in each of their last four La Liga games.

"I know it is the only competition that Manchester United as a club have never won and it would be great to close the circle and say 'we are a club that won every single competition in the football world'.

"Thinking about us as a team, I think it would be a good achievement with the many problems we have and would allow us back in the Champions League next season.

"So we have to try, that's what we are going to do, and honestly the Europa League becomes more important for us now.

"Of course it depends on the result, it depends on the way we analyse the situation tomorrow after the match, but if we have to rest players next weekend, we are going to do that."
