Ronaldo, Kroos rested for RM

Real Madrid have rested Cristiano Ronaldo and Toni Kroos for their La Liga trip to Deportivo La Coruna on Wednesday evening.

The duo will join the injured Gareth Bale and suspended Sergio Ramos on the sidelines for Madrid for the game at the Riazor, where the European champions will be aiming to bounce back from Sunday’s disappointing El Clasico loss to Barcelona.

It’s the fourth time in five La Liga away games that Ronaldo has been rested by Zinedine Zidane after missing the games against Eibar, Leganes and Sporting Gijon in recent weeks and is done with a view of upcoming Champions League matches against Atletico Madrid.

France centre-back Raphael Varane has been included on his return from a troublesome hamstring complaint and Castilla full-back Alvaro Tejero is also called up to the senior ranks.

Los Blancos could start the match three points behind league leaders Barcelona with a worse head-to-head record against the Catalans, if Luis Enrique’s side defeat basement club Osasuna ahead of Madrid’s fixture.
