Rafinha staying at Barca – Fernandez

Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez has played down reports in the Spanish media that Rafinha Alcantara may leave the club.

El Mundo Deportivo reported Liverpool, Arsenal and Juventus were all considering bidding for the Brazilian midfielder at the end of the season but Fernandez told Cadena Ser that no offer had been made and he would not be for sale.

"No, it’s not true,” replied Fernandez when asked if Rafinha would be available for transfer in summer.

"Many things have come out. I understand that Barca is a club that generates a lot of news but many are not true.

"I have no news that the player wants to leave.

"He signed a contract extension last season, even when people said he would leave."

Rafinha – whose buyout clause is set at €75m – has netted seven times across 27 appearances for the Blaugrana this season.
