Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu has announced that the club’s new B-team stadium will be named ‘Estadi Johan Cruyff’.
The current Mini Estadi will be demolished to make way for a new version at Barca’s Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper training complex, as part of the Espai Barca project.
Vice-President Jordi Cardoner also confirmed plans for a statue of Cruyff in the project and that the club had requested Carrer d’Aristides Maillol, the street where the Blaugrana’s headquarters reside, to be renamed after the Dutchman.
Cruyff died from lung cancer last March and is generally considered the most influential figure in Barca’s history.
