Jorge Sampaoli has not ruled out the possibility of being appointed Barcelona manager this summer to replace Luis Enrique, says a report.
ESPN state the Argentine Coach still believes he has a chance of landing the job, despite Catalunya Radio reporting on Wednesday that the Blaugrana had definitively ruled him out of the running.
The Catalans are thought to prefer someone with a direct connection to the club and preferably a manager who has direct experience at managing at the very highest level in Europe, although fans of Barca would prefer the club to go for the current Sevilla Coach, as he topped all polls carried out by local media.
Sampaoli signed a two-year deal with the Andalucians last summer and president Jose Castro is ‘confident’ he will sign a new one-year extension to his contract, but that has yet to be finalised.
Athletic Club Coach Ernesto Valverde – who previously played at Camp Nou – and Luis Enrique’s assistant Juan Carlos Unzue are currently the front runners for the position.
