Las Palmas Coach Quique Setien has requested his side aren’t compared to more established-top flight clubs but admits there is room for progress.
Los Amarillos are currently sitting 12th in La Liga but have won only once on the road all season, with some performances and perceived naivety criticised within local media.
“The team has given a fantastic level of performance but perhaps we have to work better on the smaller details of games,” explained Setien at his pre-match press conference ahead of his side's clash with Villarreal on Friday night.
“But I am more than satisfied with our achievements this season and what we have done, we cannot be compared to clubs who have been in this division for twenty years, we are still learning and growing.
“Villarreal are a very strong side, they have had many tremendous results this season to take them within touching distance of the Champions League places.
“(Former Las Palmas player) Angel Lopez’s criticism of me? He seems resentful, it’s important not to take too much notice of all this criticism. We are happy with our progress.”
