Jorge Sampaoli believes his Sevilla side are still in the thick of the title race despite dropping two points at Alaves on Monday night.
Wissam Ben Yedder gave the Andalucians a first half lead before Aleksandar Katai rescued a point for the hosts with fifteen minutes remaining, to mean Sevilla trail Barcelona at the top by four points.
“Our targets have not changed, we are still in touch and will keep fighting,” Sampaoli said at his post-match press conference.
“This is a challenging time of the season with many games and where the physical impact of playing in two competitions kicks in, but it is the same for our rivals.
“We played with our lives to win but Alaves made things very difficult and deserved a draw, they made tactical adjustments and you must respect that.
“We had the game under control in the first half and we should have been ahead by more but they came back very strongly and you can see by results how hard they are to play against this season, this was always a tricky game.”
