Real Madrid players endured a disrupted Monday night after 100 Napoli fans reportedly blared car horns and banged pots and pans outside the team’s hotel.
Catalan newspaper Diario Sport state the ‘intense’ atmosphere in Naples hasn’t been confined to Stadio San Paolo – which is expected to be a 60,000 sell-out on Tuesday evening – as 100 or so fans of the Partenopei gathered outside Los Merengues’ hotel, where Madrid’s side are staying in the city.
This is seen as an age-old tactic by hardcore fans of continental clubs to disrupt the sleep patterns of visiting teams to drain them ahead of the important match.
Napoli are attempting to overturn a 3-1 deficit from the first leg at the Bernabeu last month, and such is the anticipation for the encounter, the club are opening the stadium six hours before kick-off.
