Cesc ‘not surprised’ at Courtois interest

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas wouldn’t be surprised if Real Madrid attempted to sign teammate Thibaut Courtois who is ‘the best goalkeeper in the world’.

The Belgian shot-stopper has been linked with a potential switch to the Bernabeu since last season while Marca recently reported he would be Madrid’s number one target should they not be able to acquire Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea.

"It wouldn't surprise me at all because Courtois is the best goalkeeper in the world,” told Cadena Ser radio.

"It's normal that the best teams in the world want the best goalkeeper in the world.

"Chelsea is a top club and, for the future of this team, Thibaut is a very, very important player.

"That is more so considering Chelsea's future aspirations in terms of competing in the Champions League next season and winning the Premier League title.

"You need the best players to compete for the top trophies and Thibaut is one of them."

The 24-year-old spent three seasons on loan at Atletico and previously said he would like to return someday to Spain, where his wife and daughter are based.
