Samp downplays new deal

Sevilla Coach Jorge Sampaoli is honoured by the club seeking to extend his contract but is opting not to focus on it for the time being.

The Argentine boss is in hot-demand having taken the Andalucians into the last 16 of the Champions League and guided them to 3rd in La Liga, with the club offering him an extended contract to ward off potential interest from Barcelona, who are reportedly seeking to replace Luis Enrique this summer.

"The fact that the club is considering extending my contract makes me happy and I value it," Sampaoli, whose current deal with the Europa League winners expires in June 2018, told the club's official website.

"I'm delighted and flattered that the valuation levels are such but right now the only thing that I want is to live the present.

"It's a bit difficult to think about the future without a real valuation. We live in the present and perhaps in two weeks' time this will not happen because it has to do with momentary success."
