Watford agree Femenia move

Former Barcelona and Real Madrid full-back Kiko Femenia has agreed to join Watford when his deal with Alaves expires in summer, say reports.

The 26-year-old played a vital part in the Basque side’s successful promotion bid last season and has started 17 of 23 La Liga matches this season after previously enjoying spells in the B teams at both Barcelona and Real Madrid, but AS claim he has signed pre-contract agreement with the Hornets.

Barca paid €2m plus add-ons to sign the right-back from Hercules in 2011 but never forced his way into the first team at Camp Nou, before making the unusual switch to the Bernabeu, where he made five appearances for the reserve side before moving to Alcorcon.

However, his career was rejuvenated with his 2015 move to Alaves and AS claim Valencia, Real Betis, Villarreal and Espanyol were hopeful of his signature.

The Madrid daily states ‘unless a major surprise happens’ Femenia will join Watford as a free-agent once his contract at Alaves expires at the end of the season and a deal in principle is already agreed for him to join Walter Mazzarri's side until 2020.
