Gameiro ‘annoyed’ at substitution

Atletico Madrid striker Kevin Gameiro has revealed his annoyance and frustration at being substituted off during his side’s 4-2 win at Bayer Leverkusen.

The French striker had netted from the penalty spot to add to his quickfire hat-trick against Sporting Gijon at the weekend, but was replaced by midfielder Thomas Partey twenty minutes from time and he appeared unhappy as he walked off.

"When you are doing well you want to play the whole game," Gameiro said in the reporter’s mixed zone after the game.

"I was a bit annoyed but the most important thing is the team wins the game. The boss decides who goes on and who comes off.

"I'm feeling good physically and mentally; we played a great game tonight. It is important for the second leg. We are all important for the team.

“When I was not doing well, [Fernando] Torres scored some important goals. It is all positive ahead of the end of the season."
