Southampton full-back Cedric Soares has emerged as a potential transfer target for Barcelona this summer, according to reports.
The Daily Telegraph states the Catalans are weighing up a bid for the Portuguese right-back in summer to strengthen their options in that position, with Aleix Vidal – currently out injured until the end of the season and who has an unclear future – the only specialist player in that position in the squad.
The 25-year-old was a regular in the Portugal side that triumphed at the 2016 European Championships and has become a regular in the Saints back four, known for his positional awareness, tackling and high crossing accuracy.
Southampton spent €6m to bring him to England from Sporting Lisbon in 2015 and he has made 48 appearances for the South Coast club since.
The Blaugrana can make an emergency signing this week but it can only be a player registered with another Spanish club and he would only be available for domestic competitions.
