Carrasco denies Cholo rift

Atletico Madrid star Yannick Carrasco has explained any recent signs of frustration have been aimed at his own performances and not Coach Diego Simeone.

The Belgian completed his first full 90 minutes in three months and scored a wonderful equaliser in Sunday’s dramatic win over Celta Vigo, but his discipline had been questioned after he kicked a water bottle after being substituted off in a recent scoreless draw with Alaves.

"When I get angry coming off it is not with the boss, it is with myself," Carrasco told El Transistor.

"The boss said nothing to me about kicking the water battle, a player must have character. When I am taken off I am angry with myself, not the change, I get angry when things do not go for me."

Carrasco’s eleventh goal of the season was his first strike since November 20th.
