Barca make double signing

Barcelona have completed a double signing with a move for Uruguayan defender Santiago Bueno and a loan deal for Nigerian winger Ezekiel Bassey.

18-year-old Bueno will join the Catalans’ B side upon the conclusion of the ongoing South American Youth Championship in Ecuador, while Bassey will join the same side until the end of the campaign.

"Barcelona and CA Penarol have reached an agreement for the transfer of Santiago Bueno," a statement from the club read on Tuesday.

"The player will be a Barca player until June 30, 2019, with the option of three additional seasons.

"The Uruguayan defender is currently taking part in the South American Youth Championship with his country. When his participation in the tournament ends, he will join up with the Blaugrana."

Later on the Blaugrana released another statement to confirm the Bassey deal: "FC Barcelona and Enyimba International Football Club have reached an agreement for the loan of Ezekiel Joseph Bassey until the end of the season.

"Bassey will form part of the B team and included in the deal is the option to sign him on a two-year deal in the summer. The Nigerian attacker will undergo a medical at the club later on Tuesday."

Barca B are currently two points clear of Alcoyano at the top of Spain's regionalised third division and are targeting for a return to the second tier of Spanish football.
