Madrid miss out on Isak

Real Madrid have missed out on signing Swedish striker Alexander Isak, with the teenager completing his move to Borussia Dortmund on Monday.

The deal was in the region of €10m for the 17-year-old who scored ten goals in 24 matches for the Swedish club in the 2017 season, including a brace against rivals  Djurgarden on this 17th birthday.

Isak also became Sweden’s youngest ever goalscorer when he netted against Slovakia on 12 January, beating a 105-year-old record.

“Alexander Isak is a hugely-talented striker, who many top clubs in Europe wanted to sign,” said Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc.

“We are delighted that he has chosen Borussia Dortmund. Both BVB and the player himself are convinced that this transfer has great potential.”

“True quality is recognised very early,” AIK Solna teammate Dickson Etuhu in a post on instagram which saw Isak signing his deal alongside Zorc, before the German club made it official.

“Dortmund have incredible young players. Glad we had the chance to play together, and go become the top player we all believe you will be.”
