Valencia wanted Jovetic/Parejo swap

Valencia wanted to sign Stevan Jovetic from Inter Milan earlier this month, and even proposed a swap deal with Dani Parejo to the Italian giants, say reports.

Super Deporte claim the Montegrin striker was high on the radar of Los Che going into this month, knowing that he was out of favour at the San Siro and Valencia keen to reinforce their attacking options.

Jovetic eventually signed a loan deal with Sevilla until the end of the season with a purchase to buy, while Juventus striker Simone Zaza has since arrived at the Mestalla.

However, so keen was Valencia owner Peter Lim to land the former Manchester City striker he even proposed the sale of midfielder Parejo to the Italians, who were less keen on the deal and with the player intent on joining the Europa League winners.

27-year-old Parejo has been linked with a move to Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan this month but it appears unlikely that Valencia would sanction such a deal unless they had new signings coming in, with Sevilla sporting director Monchi admitting his interest but saying the club are already well stocked in that position.
