Atleti ‘won’t tie anyone down’

Diego Simeone has said he won’t ‘tie anybody down’ to staying at Atletico Madrid amid rumours of Antoine Griezmann moving to Manchester United in summer.

A report in The Independent said talks between Jose Mourinho’s side and the French striker’s representatives were at ‘an advanced stage’ and United could be prepared to pay the buyout clause of €100m to land their man.

"I don't tie anybody down. I simply work in order to continue getting better for the good of the club,” Simeone explained in the wake of the reports.

"He [Griezmann] is in an extraordinary moment, he is working well, he has got back on the scoresheet. He is currently in great form and it's normal that the top clubs in the world want him.

"I'm not surprised that those that can afford him are seeking him."
