Garcia cuts short Alaves loan

Teenage midfielder Manu Garcia Alonso will return to Manchester City from Alaves after the two clubs mutually agreed to end his season-long loan early.

The 19-year-old joined the La Liga outfit on loan for the entire 2016-17 campaign hoping to secure more regular playing time but has yet to make an appearance for the club’s first team.

"Deportivo Alaves and Manchester City have reached an agreement to end the loan contract of Manu Garcia Alonso with the Spanish club,” read an Alaves statement.

“The midfielder arrived from Manchester City at the start of the season but has not been given the desired minutes at the Vitoria-Gasteiz club.

"The club wish to thank the player born in Asturias for his great work and professionalism and wish him all the professional and personal success."

Garcia joined the Citizens from Sporting Gijon in 2013 and he made his Premier League debut in March 2016, with reports in England now suggesting he will join Dutch second tier side NAC Breda on loan.
