Musonda returns to Chelsea

Charly Musonda will not return to Real Betis to complete his loan deal and has returned to Chelsea, according to reports in Spain.

Cadena Cope report the ‘minimum appearance’ clause in the agreement of the loan deal was not met, meaning the Belgian could return to Stamford Bridge or seek loan opportunities elsewhere, with the report going on to state that this will be made official by both clubs in the coming days.

The 20-year-old has started only once for Los Verdiblancos this season and played a total of 288 minutes across eight appearances, falling out-of-favour initially under Gus Poyet before sustaining injuries meaning he has not forced his way into new boss Victor Sanchez del Amo’s first team plans thus far.

Last season, Musonda made 16 appearances for the club in the second half of the season, scoring once and winning many plaudits.

The Belgian joined Chelsea in 2012 from Anderlecht, but is currently one of 38 players out on loan from Stamford Bridge.
