‘A bad match but a good point…’

Alaves boss Mauricio Pellegrino admits his side’s draw at Eibar was not a good match but a point was a good result for his side.

It was the first ever top flight contest between the two Basque clubs and did not produce much in the way of entertainment – with the visitors failing to register a single shot on target in a game of few chances.

“The game was not good but the point serves us well and is a point gained for us,” explained Pellegrino after the game.

“It was a very competitive match between two evenly-matched teams – a lot of hard work, aerial play and concentration.

“I thought we played well, our defensive kept their shape and limited them to very few chances which is rare at their home.

“We played a direct, straightforward game with emphasis on counter-attacks as it’s hard to play your normal style at this ground and any team who avoids defeat here will have done well.”
