Spanish treasury Hacienda has confirmed that it will investigate Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo, amidst allegations of tax evasion.
Speaking to Cadena COPE on Saturday night, Spain’s Secretary of State for Finance revealed the treasury would “perform inspections it deems necessary” on Ronaldo.
“The information held by the ministry of finance corresponds to that published in the media,” explained Jose Enrique Fernandez de Moya.
El Confidencial reported on Thursday that the Portuguese, among other world stars such as former Madrid midfielder Mesut Ozil, deliberately hid income from image rights in low-tax countries such as Republic of Ireland.
