Ozil hints at Madrid return

Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil has admitted he could return to Real Madrid and still has 'great memories' of playing for the club.

The 28-year-old joined the Gunners from the Bernabeu in 2013 for a club record €50m and has played 134 times for the North London side but in an interview with Marca, he made clear it was a possibility that he may return to the Spanish capital one day.

"Of course, I do not forget my time in Madrid. Three years have passed and I have great memories from there. Return? We'll see," said Ozil.

"Zidane was my Idol, as a child I always wanted to be like him on the field.

"Madrid is a great club – I played with great players, I have friends there still. Madridistas are very loyal and affectionate with me.

"Madridistas still encourage me. Many send me messages and ask me to come back, so I have only good memories from there.”

When asked if he regretted leaving Los Blancos, Ozil rejected the idea.

"I don't make mistakes. I’m happy to have taken this adventure in England, having grown as a player & person."
