United should sign Griezi – Scholes

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes believes his former club should prioritise the signing of Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann next summer.

The 42-year-old cast doubt on Zlatan Ibrahimovic being the main striker at the club due to his age and stated the French forward would be the ideal signing for the Red Devils.

"I think Griezmann would be up there," he explained on BT Sport.

"He looks a top centre-forward at Atletico and I think we have to be in the market for someone like that.

"When you're talking about a 36-year-old, as special as he's (Zlatan) been throughout his career, as special as he is now, I don't think he should be the main striker.”

Griezmann’s younger brother Theo is a self-confessed fan of Jose Mourinho’s side and voiced his support once again during their 4-0 win over Feyenoord on Thursday night, while the Atletico forward stated earlier this month he would love to play alongside compatriot Paul Pogba at club level.
