Escriba: Villarreal want to dominate

Fran Escriba says Villarreal “want to dominate” Las Palmas when they host the islanders in La Liga on Sunday.

Villarreal remain unbeaten after their first eight League games of the season, although they were forced to come back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Europa League debutants Osmanlispor midweek.

“It’ll be a nice game against a team that have grown since Quique Setien’s arrival,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“We want to grow with the ball against them. We’re not going to sit back and play on the counterattack, but we intend to follow in the line that the team are on.

“The fans must be demanding. I’ve told the players that everything happens from how we perform, like we did against Celta.

“We went [to Celta] with our alarms on and that made us compete at the top. Now we have to give 100 percent to win.

“In every game, there can be no phase in which we play at low intensity. Osmanlispor aren’t a bad team and proved it. If we don’t play with intensity against Las Palmas, things will go badly.

“We’re a team that defend well, but we don’t want to do just that. We want to dominate the match, knowing that they can also pose us danger on the counterattack.

“Their style of play is attacking, so it’s logical that they concede.”
