Poyet: I enjoy the pressure

Betis boss Gus Poyet has said he enjoys the pressure and vows to continue with the same ideas despite criticism from fans.

Los Verdiblancos travel to Osasuna – who remain in the relegation zone despite their win at Eibar – on Friday night, hoping to bounce back from their 6-1 thrashing at the hands of Real Madrid, as some Betis fans called for Poyet to be sacked.

“I like the pressure,” said the Uruguayan ahead of the match.

“You never stop learning as a manager and that is what is happening now – my thoughts, my ideas, my work…it’s constantly evolving and growing.

“Regardless of what happens in the coming weeks, this club and this group of players will continue.

“We believe in this project and will continue to work with it because we believe it will work. For how long will we be allowed to go with it? We’ll see.

“Whenever you win a game, everything is perfect and when you lose, everything is a mess so the situation at the moment is normal.”
