Vrsaljko will fight at Atleti

Sime Vrsaljko has vowed to keep working hard to earn his place in Atletico Madrid's side, despite only playing once so far all season.

The full-back has played second fiddle to long-term Atletico right-back Juanfran so far this season since his €16m summer arrival from Sassuolo, having signed a five-year deal in Madrid having turned down moves to Juventus and Napoli.

"Things are as they are," Vrsaljko said in an interview with AS.

"I would like to play more, but I am not thinking about leaving Atletico.

"It is up to me to work hard and show the coach my worth. I am in good form, and these two [World Cup qualifying] games with Croatia have been important for me."
