Valencia join Grimaldo race?

Valencia have joined both Manchester clubs in the race to sign highly-rated Benfica left-back Alex Grimaldo, according to reports.

Grimaldo joined the Portuguese champions at the start of the year from Barcelona for 1.5 million euros and has established his place in the side since with a string of impressive performances.

AS report today that Valencia are keen on the Spanish full-back and have joined the growing list of clubs to send a scout to Benfica's Estadio Da Luz to watch him, in this case in the club's 4-0 victory over Feirense yesterday.

The 21-year-old has been heavily linked to both Manchester United and Manchester City, with both Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola said to be keen on the player, who never made it to Barcelona's first team squad.

He reportedly has a release clause of 60 million euros, although it is unclear yet if the scouts sent to track Grimaldo will prompt any club to make a bid despite his strong displays.
