Ter Stegen plays too riskily- Alvarez

Celta Vigo goalkeeper Sergio Alvarez believes his Barcelona counterpart Marc-Andre Ter Stegen takes too many unnecessary risks by playing with his feet.

Ter Stegen was directly responsible for the conceding of his side's fourth goal at Celta on Sunday evening and has apologised to his teammates for his mistake, yet has remained adamant that he will not change his style of play.

"He is a goalkeeper that likes to play with his feet and always assumes risks," Alvarez told Cadena Ser.

"You need to differentiate when you can play with your feet and when you have to kick it up in the air."

The German Ter Stegen has established himself as Barcelona's number one goalkeeper this season after the sale of Claudio Bravo to Manchester City, and the Spanish press have been scathing in their post-match criticism, with Catalan newspaper Sport leading with 'What Gifts!' as their morning headline alongside a picture of the crestfallen goalkeeper.
