Gus Poyet fumed at Real Betis’ performance in their 1-0 defeat to Real Sociedad on Friday as “this was the match I liked the least from us”.
Carlos Vela’s goal just after the hour at Anoeta condemned Betis to their second defeat in three games and meant they ended the weekend 15th in La Liga, only two points above the relegation zone.
“I’m disappointed but I won’t speak in the heat of the moment. We didn’t deserve to win and that’s something I saw clearly,” the Coach said after the game.
“I’m angry with our performance because I didn’t expect this and didn’t see us go anywhere near [our opponents].”
Asking for time to assess his side’s performance “calmly”, Poyet admitted he was “concerned” by his changes in the second half not making an effect.
“There were minutes in which things were done, but you can’t just play for minutes. Some things have to always be done well”, he added.
“This was the match I liked the least from us.”
