Athletic Bilbao midfielder Raul Garcia has apologised to Joselu for a challenge which injured the Deportivo striker's knee.
Joselu, on loan from Stoke City, will miss the next 2-3 months with knee ligament damage after Garcia's challenge in the 24th minute of the clash at La Riazor which was the striker's debut since his move from England.
"I've apologised to Joselu, I spoke to him straight after the match to tell him it was an accident," Garcia told Cadena Ser.
"I slipped and it was a bad collision – I hope it's nothing serious."
Garcia, who was booed for the challenge, scored the game's only goal and celebrated by cupping his ear in direction of the Depor fans.
"I didn't appreciate the criticism after the challenge – it wasn't intentional," he continued.
"I made a mistake celebrating my goal and my reaction was not good, but we are not robots."
