Nasri: Guardiola wanted me to stay

New Sevilla signing Samir Nasri has insisted that Pep Guardiola wanted to keep him at Manchester City and the loan move was his choice.

Nasri moved to Andalusia on a year-long loan deal from Manchester City, a move that he believes comes at the right time.

"Guardiola tried to make me stay but I told him that I wanted to leave and play regular first-team football," said the 29-year-old at his unveiling at Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan this afternoon.

"I am no longer interested in international football with France, that ended in 2014, I'm solely concentrated on Sevilla.

"Sevilla are a team with a lot of quality and a great a coach who likes to keep the ball and press, a game I think will suit me.

"I want to be adaptable in this team – I can play on the left or the right, or even as a false nine."
