Enrique Barca contract talks put on hold

Talks over a contract extension for Barcelona Coach Luis Enrique have been put back until next spring, Josep Bartomeu has revealed.

The Blaugrana boss has won five of the six major trophies available to him since taking over at Camp Nou, as well as the Spanish Super Cup, European Super Cup and Club World Cup.

However, in an interview with Catalunya Radio, club President Bartomeu stated that the 46-yearold has no desire to discuss his future until well after the turn of the New Year.

“We will not discuss Luis Enrique’s future now or at Christmas,” Bartomeu begain. “The right time will be in February or March as he said he didn’t want to talk about it until the end of the season.

“Right now we are thinking about La Liga and the Champions League.”

Bartomeu also confirmed that Barca are looking to offer new contract to trio Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Ivan Rakitic before the end of the year.

'We will speak to Messi just as we will talk to Suarez and Rakitic. We will do so in the next few months because we want them to renew their contracts.'
