‘Cillessen a tough battle for Ter Stegen’

Ronald De Boer believes Jasper Cillessen will be a tough challenge to Marc-Andre Ter Stegen to be Barcelona’s No 1.

Cillessen is expected to quit Ajax for Barca in the near future and rival Ter Stegen for a starting place once Claudio Bravo joins Manchester City, De Boer predicting success for his compatriot at Camp Nou.

“I’m not surprised. He’s a good goalkeeper. He’s very reliable. He shouldn’t think twice [about going to Barca]. He’ll learn a lot and can continue to evolve. He’s 27 and that is the age goalkeepers have to use everything they’ve learned until then,” he told AS.

“The eternal question is how is he with his feet. That’s what people ask about a goalkeeper for Ajax or Barcelona. He handles it well, and it’s complicated. He’s not a rookie. He’s had time at a high level and I’m sure he’ll be a tough battle for Ter Stegen.”
