Barca confirm Bravo-City deal

Barcelona technical secretary Robert Fernandez has confirmed that Claudio Bravo will join Manchester City once a replacement goalkeeper is signed.

Robert broke the news after Bravo’s appearance in Barca’s 6-2 opening-day victory over Real Betis in La Liga on Saturday as the technical secretary admitted City’s offer had turned the Chilean’s head before they could tie him down to a new contract.

“Regarding Bravo, we’ve reached an agreement in principle with Manchester City,” he said.

“In this case [of a replacement being signed], everything will take shape and we’ll open the door for Claudio.

“We were discussing his renewal, but then we got the offer from City and the player told us he wanted to think it over and evaluate other things.

“In the end, we reached an agreement in principle [with City].”

However, the 54-year-old refused to comment on whether a deal for Ajax’s Jasper Cillessen was close to being completed.
