Kovacic not for sale?

Real Madrid have reportedly stated that Mateo Kovacic “is not for sale” in response to reports linking the midfielder with Milan.

AS and Corriere dello Sport claimed on Thursday that Kovacic had been given the all-clear to join Milan on an initial loan that would become permanent and see Madrid retain a buyback clause.

However, Marca has since cited correspondence from Los Blancos, who insist the Croatia international “will follow Zinedine Zidane’s orders this season” as “his situation has not changed”.

“Kovacic is not for sale and will not move from Madrid,” the club added in their said statement to the newspaper.

Nacho Fernandez is also in line to stay put after links with Roma failed to materialise, the Giallorossi ultimately making a defensive signing in Thomas Vermaelen from Barcelona.
