Dani Carvajal insists Real Madrid “never give up” after his last-gasp winner secured both a 3-2 victory over Sevilla and the European Super Cup.
In his own words, Carvajal “stole the ball, saw the space, pushed forward and ultimately scored” with just a minute of extra time remaining in Trondheim.
“The essence of Real Madrid is that you must never give up,” the right-back told Antena 3 after the game.
“A goal after 90 minutes and one at the end of extra time made us champions.
“I stole the ball and saw the space. I pushed forward and ultimately scored.
“It was important in a game where we spent almost the entire second half chasing [Sevilla].
Acknowledging Madrid’s “many significant absences”, Carvajal added: “We have a very large squad.
“Our homegrown players have a lot of enthusiasm and desire to contribute to the team and today everything went well.”
