Gabriel Mercado will soon be in Seville to complete the fine details of a move from River Plate to Sevilla.
Estadio Deportivo reports the right-back is due in the city on Wednesday and will complete a €2.2m move from the Argentine club, with a further €450,000 in bonuses possible and a 20% sell-on profit clause in the deal.
Mercado replaces Schalke-bound captain Coke but doesn’t take up a non-EU spot in Jorge Sampaoli’s squad as his wife is Spanish, and he doesn’t count against the non-EU quota.
Herman Berman, Mercado’s agent, has told ED that the ‘minutest of details’ are still outstanding before the transfer is done and dusted but the club and the player have agreed a three-year contract.
