Newcastle United have reportedly activated Mohamed Diame’s Hull City release clause, prompting links between Moussa Sissoko and Real Madrid to resurface.
Sissoko’s future at Newcastle remains shrouded in doubt after the side’s relegation from the Premier League last season, his performances for France at Euro 2016 said to have caught the eye of Madrid.
And AS has attributed Rafa Benitez’s remarks to the Newcastle Chronicle on Saturday as an indirect reference to Madrid, with the Magpies having possibly targeted a replacement in former Rayo Vallecano man Diame.
“I sent him a message the other day. He answered it and was fine,” the ex-Blancos boss said.
“In football, you have to have offers – the right offers. Then we still have to say yes if it is the right offer.
“At the moment we don’t have this offer on the table and we still have a good player with us.
“He will come back and start training, then after we will see what is going on during the week.”
