Barcelona boss Luis Enrique hailed Sergi Roberto as “more than a player” after the youth product’s performance at right-back against Celtic on Saturday.
Sergi demonstrated his versatility again in Barca’s 3-1 victory over Celtic as the midfielder completed 90 minutes on the right of La Blaugrana’s back four, prompting Enrique to state his appreciation for the 24-year-old’s talents.
“It’s important that we won and I see it as a positive thing that we incurred no injuries,” the Coach said after the game.
“[Aleix Vidal] was on the same line as the team, but it’s not the time to evaluate too many things.
“[Sergi] is an important player who can play in several positions. He can play out wide, but if we need to play him as a pivot or central player then he can.
“He’s more than just a football player. He does well wherever he plays.
“We won’t the change the way we attack. With 4-3-3, 3-4-3 and in defence, things are clear.
“[On his new contract], I only care about training tomorrow. The board knows how I feel.”
