Lucas: Result wasn’t important

Lucas Vazquez insists the result wasn’t the important aspect of Real Madrid’s friendly defeat against Paris Saint-Germain.

Madrid were beaten 3-1 by Unai Emery’s Ligue 1 champions but Vazquez argued that with PSG further ahead in their preparations for the new season, it was more about performance than anything else.

“We’ve had a week of training and this is the first game, it gives us confidence and fitness and furthers our improvement. They’ve had more training and it shows, but we can be positive. The result wasn’t important, what was important was gaining confidence with the ball,” the Spain international said, AS reports.

“In football you always have to improve and progress each year. Everyone has their way and we’ll see what happens but we have a very good squad. I’m not the one to talk about this, though. I dedicate myself to training.

“The supporters? The fans always respond well every time the team has come [to the United States].”
