Emery: Sevilla for the Super Cup

Paris Saint-Germain Coach Unai Emery hopes Sevilla win the UEFA Super Cup over Real Madrid after beating Los Blancos in a friendly.

Emery this summer quit Los Rojiblancos for the Ligue 1 champions and provided the opposition for Madrid’s first summer friendly, Zinedine Zidane’s side going down to a 3-1 defeat in Ohio.

“I can tell you from experience that how a team does in pre-season is relative. Players are missing, and to make an assessment on the outcome or the tempo isn’t clear-cut. Madrid have their ends as well, then each team behaves with a better physical condition and more success. Today was only work, but you always want to win and play well,” Emery noted, Marca reports.

“Madrid still lack a lot but that’s logical. The goal of both of us is to prepare for our finals. We don’t give a special dimension to this game. Some teams are more advanced than others.”

Emery concluded by backing his old club for the August 8 showpiece against Madrid, which pits the Europa League winners against their Champions League counterparts.

“Everyone wants to play a final and I will try to see it and enjoy a great game, and of course I want Sevilla to win,” he confirmed.
