Diego Costa has reportedly called Diego Simeone to ask Atletico Madrid to wait before signing a striker as he wants to come back.
Atletico are close to taking Kevin Gameiro from Sevilla but have repeatedly been linked with Costa, who they sold to Chelsea in 2014 and tried to re-sign this summer for €60m, only to be rebuffed.
AS says however that Costa contacted Simeone to urge Cholo to hold back on signing a striker, and it’s suggested that in time the pieces will fall into place to allow Costa to return to Vicente Calderon.
Chelsea have already signed Michy Batshuayi from Marseille and are reportedly looking to take Romelu Lukaku back from Everton and, if they can pair up the Belgium internationals, Costa could be surplus to requirements.
That would allow Costa to get a move to Atletico but if Gameiro has already been brought in there may not be a space for him under the orders of Simeone, hence the call to the trainer to ask for a delay.
