Official: Ex-Samp star to Alaves

Alaves have announced the signing of Serbian midfielder Nenad Krsticic following his release by Sampdoria last week.

Krsticic appears to have put pen to paper on a one-year contract with Alaves and joins former Levante pair Zouhair Feddal and Deyverson plus Colombia international Daniel Torres among others in making the move to the La Liga new boys.

The Basques' describe their latest recruit on their official website as "an important player" during his time at the Serie A side and "one of the best young midfielders in his country".

"Both on the pitch and off it, the new alavesista has always demonstrated his determination and courage to overcome the most adverse situations," the club added.

"Signing for Sampdoria at 18, suffering a knee injury and soon after being diagnosed with a serious, life-threatening illness, Nenad has overcome these difficult tests and successfully returned to the pitch, and his ability has seen him become a full international with Serbia. He is a great example of strength and overcoming."

Krsticic, 26, scored three goals in 101 appearances for Sampdoria and has three Serbia caps to his name.
