Reports from France say Atletico Madrid are close to capturing Kevin Gameiro from Sevilla.
AS cites L’Equipe as claiming Los Colchoneros met with the striker’s representatives two weeks ago and the deal has moved closer in recent hours.
Atletico have been searching all summer for a striker and their interest in Gameiro is said to go back to May, with the 29-year-old coming to prominence in Atletico’s thinking of late as Mauro Icardi committed to Inter.
Sevilla and Atleti have good relations at the moment after Matias Kranevitter completed a loan move from Vicente Calderon to Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, and Sevilla have also expressed interest in Luciano Vietto.
Barcelona are also tracking Vietto, having been deterred in their interest in Gameiro by his age, Sevilla’s asking price and wages.
