Valdes: Premier League challenge

Victor Valdes cited the challenge of the Premier League and the presence of Coach Aitor Karanka as his reasons for joining Middlesbrough.

Valdes was confirmed as the Teesiders’ fifth signing of the summer after his Manchester United contract expired, Valdes having endured a difficult time at Old Trafford that ended with a loan to Belgium’s Standard Liege.

“I feel great and step by step, day by day, I feel the Premier League is a good challenge for me and that’s the reason I signed for this team,” the goalkeeper told ‘Boro’s official website, Marca reports.

“The other reason is the Coach. I’m looking forward to the first game against Stoke City. The first thing I saw here was a group of good people. The Coach and my teammates have made it easy for me as a lot of Spanish is spoken. When the atmosphere is good in the early days, it’s a lot easier to feel comfortable on the pitch.”
