Barca confirm Correa interest?

A source close to AS has claimed that Barcelona remain interested in Angel Correa, despite Atletico Madrid rejecting their first offer for the attacker.

Heavy Press speculation has yet to result in Barca signing a fourth forward, and the newspaper reports the club’s unsuccessful search took them to Correa, although their opening bid was quickly knocked back by Atleti.

“He’s a player who we’ve followed for a long time,” said the source.

“He has tremendous talent and an idyll with the [opposing] goal when he’s confident.”

The 21-year-old, who will represent Argentina at the Olympic Games next month, put his health concerns behind him last season he scored eight goals for Los Colchoneros and displaced fellow new boy Luciano Vietto in the pecking order, despite the latter costing significantly more.

However, AS adds Barca are also interested in Vietto and believe they can help the former Villarreal ace regain his form of two campaigns ago, with La Blaugrana of the opinion that he was a victim of Atleti’s playing style and thus would be a better fit than Correa.
