Emery: PSG want it all

Unai Emery has warned Paris Saint-Germain’s rivals that his new club “want to win everything” after being unveiled on Monday.

PSG have already brought in Hatem Ben Arfa, Grzegorz Krychowiak and Thomas Meunier since appointing Emery at the beginning of last week, and the former Sevilla Coach made it clear the Champions League, while a “dream and motivation”, was not his sole focus.

“With the departure of Zlatan [Ibrahimovic], we need [another] important attacking reference,” he began.

“[Edinson Cavani] has a great opportunity to become that important attacking reference. He’s a great striker.

“[On Grzegorz Krychowiak], we needed a specialist in defensive midfield and I know him from my time at Sevilla. He’s perfect for this position.

“We want to win everything. It’s a big challenge for me. I have the opportunity of coaching many good players in. I’m eager to meet and work with them.

“The Champions League’s our dream and motivation. The club have already recruited well. The rest are adjustments that must be made.

“We’re looking for four or five youth players to train with the first team this season.

“I want to maintain my personality and line of work, geared towards efficiency. Everyone has to raise their game. They have to do more, be more aggressive.

“We must be solid and strong, with great individuals to work collectively. Our project will be built in accordance with the players we have.

“[Kevin] Trapp had a great season but so did [Alphonse] Areola. We’ll see what is best for the team.”
